Elcimaï Réalisations builds for Senoble

Premier French producer of fresh, own-branded dairy products, the Senoble Group continues to grow. As a result of this growth, the site at Jouy (89), which accounts for 60% of the group’s national production was nearing saturation. In a property partnership with the Société d’Economie Mixte Yonne Equipement the Senoble Group therefore decided to build a central logistics platform capable of receiving and handling the total dairy products production of five different sites. This new facility has increased the competitivity of the group’s logistic activities, at the same time keeping the site at Jouy at a manageable and human size .

It is an ultra-modern warehouse of 19,000 square metres and it came into service in the second half of 2005 at Villeroy (Sénonais). Its position, less than 30 kilometres from Jouy, has allowed some employees to transfer to the new facility. The platform brings together under one roof all of Group Senoble’s logistics activities and indicates its desire to organise itself by areas of activity in preparation for further development and the conquest of new markets .

This new platform, an expenditure of around 12 million euros, was entrusted to Elcimaï Réalisations, as prime contractor. “For industrial companies, the top priority today is consistency of flows. When you start a project as significant as the one at Villeroy, it is vital to get help with the choices you make right from the outset,” explains Jean-Pierre Fradin, manager of the engineering arm at Elcimaïl.

“The first stage was to put together a dossier detailing technical and financial aspects as accurately as possible, continues Jean-Luc Bourguignon, Senoble’s technical director. We wanted a high degree of technical clarity on how the warehouse would be built and what it would mean for the suppliers involved. Financially speaking, we wanted to get the right price for an investment like this.” Its “turnkey” offer had a lot to do with why Elcimaï’s bid was the one accepted by Senoble. It was awarded an initial two-month contract to produce a full specification, setting out the characteristics, needs and performance levels required by Senoble for this industrial-type project. “Then right from the outset we focused on all aspects of price and delivery,” Jean-Pierre Fradin recalls.

It’s a very specialised site which incorporates the latest technical innovations. Henceforth this platform is the company’s shop window. “We were particularly touched by the fact that all of Senoble’s staff were enthusiastic about the project architecturally. To such an extent that our model is now displayed in the reception area.” “With Elcimaï Réalisations we started out with a clear understanding of the contract,” confirms Jean-Luc Bourguignon. The human and interpersonal aspect also greatly influenced our choice”.

More than the solutions it proposed, which ally quality with permanence, it was Elcimaï Réalisation’s company culture and its understanding of the constraints imposed on the industrial world which attracted Group Senoble to it and, with the construction of this new platform, it has made a strategic move in the organisation of its logistics.
