Elcimaï Réalisations builds for SANOFI AVENTIS

The Sanofi-Aventis VITAL project:
the commissioning of phase 1 at the Dijon site

The VITAL project was the first time that Sanofi-Aventis had undertaken a ‘turnkey’ project at its Dijon site. Paying special attention to safety and operational improvements, the project team established a new flow plan for the site and in particular defined new rules for hygiene and clothing.
These studies led to the scheduling of a new locker room unit, specifically adapted to pharmaceutical rules, and to the extension of the offices and medical departments.

The impact of this reorganisation has been significant, leading, as it has, to new controls in the management of the warehouse-outside interface, a recognition of the maintenance function and its technicians who are extremely mobile around the whole factory and the change of status of the control laboratory to a pharmaceutical area.

The Elcimaï Réalisations team, working side by side with the Sanofi-Aventis team on a daily basis, particularly with Pascal LORIER, the project director, and Philippe ABADIE, the operations manager, was responsible for the delivery of the first phase.
The quality and safety requirements (pharmaceutical standards) demanded of such a site were recognised by Elcimaï Réalisations and were carefully considered, so as to result in buildings of a high technical quality.

The work, which lasted 12 months and took 25,000 working hours and involved 30 different companies, began with a demolition phase carried out by a digger with 2-metre jaws (building V2 was gone in five days).
It was also necessary to use a 30-metre mobile crane to remove the 400 girders, slabs and prefabricated pillars.
It is worth noting that despite 25 days of bad weather, Elcimaï Réalisations completed the work on time. The opening of the site’s medical section also happened on time to the minute, thus ensuring continuity of service.

Elcimaï Réalisations is continuing its building work and is currently engaged in modernisation operations .

Some figures:
• 4 kilometres of electrical cabling,
• 45 new doors,
• 1,000 locker doors,
• 9,600 garments produced.
