Elcimaï Environnement’s expertise chosen to optimize waste collection in the Ponthieu-Marquenterre region
Comprising 71 municipalities and home to 33,000 residents, the Ponthieu-Marquenterre Community of Municipalities (80) was created in 2017 following the merger of three former communities of municipalities, in accordance with the NOTRe law.
It has just entrusted Elcimaï Environnement with the task of optimizing waste collection in the region, a service currently outsourced to a private contractor under contracts valid through December 31, 2020.
The project’s objectives are as follows :
- to standardize collection zones,
- optimize collection frequencies,
- improve service quality and clarity for users,
- reduce service costs,
- anticipate cost trends,
- minimize environmental impacts,
- and improve sorting performance.
The Elcimaï Environnement team assigned to this project will need to take into account the diversity of the areas involved (urban and rural), the presence of apartment buildings, and the fact that nearly 50 % of properties are second homes, which leads to significant fluctuations between the summer and winter seasons and, consequently, substantial variations in tonnage throughout the year.
