Elcimaï Environnement is partnering with Trifyl to develop a new industrial model for household waste recovery
Founded in 1999, Trifyl is a public entity—a local authority—that directly manages public waste management services. Its jurisdiction covers the Tarn, part of the Hérault, and part of the Haute-Garonne, comprising 358 municipalities with a total population of 327,000.

Over the past 20 years, Trifyl has developed an industrial infrastructure comprising some 40 sites, including key facilities (sorting centers, composting platforms, wood energy recovery platforms, and a bioreactor), as well as a network of local facilities (36 waste collection centers and 13 transfer stations).
In 2014, Trifyl launched a collaborative discussion with its members and partners on the future of waste management. The challenge was threefold : to ensure, for the coming decades, an efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective public waste recovery service for residents of the Tarn, Lauragais, Minervois, and Haut-Languedoc regions.
From this shared political commitment emerged the comprehensive regional waste reduction and management project, TRIFYL HORIZON 2030. And to support this innovative project, Trifyl chose to rely on the expertise of Elcimaï Environnement.

Involved from the project’s inception, the teams at Elcimaï Environnement developed the various technical, legal, and contractual solutions that Trifyl could implement to recover its residual waste. They then organized the candidate selection process, analyzed a wide range of proposals to select the most suitable one, and subsequently supervised the project and the implementation studies of the selected bidder.
On October 18, the TRIFYL HORIZON 2030 project took shape with the laying of the cornerstone. This new industrial model for household waste treatment is now entering the construction phase under the supervision of Elcimaï Environnement.
At Renewables in Labessière-Candeil, more than 80 % of household waste will be recovered in the form of recyclables, biogas, compost, or fuel.
