Elcimaï, a partner in the 100th anniversary of MEDEF Seine-et-Marne
With nearly 400 employees and projected revenue of 70 million euros in 2019, the ELCIMAÏ Group, headquartered in Melun, is now a major driver of economic growth in Seine-et-Marne. The company was eager to partner with MEDEF Seine-et-Marne to celebrate its 100th anniversary on June 6.
ELCIMAÏ, a major player in the economic vitality of Seine-et-Marne
Founded in Melun in 1992 by Pascal Denier, the Elcimaï Group has continued to grow and expand its expertise. Beyond IT and digital engineering, as well as commercial real estate and logistics—its traditional areas of expertise—the Group is now a mid-sized company (ETI) that also specializes in environmental consulting and consulting on industrial organization and operational excellence. Elcimaï offers a unique, comprehensive integrated engineering model that enables it to tackle the most ambitious projects, both in France and internationally. It generated revenue of €45 million in 2018 and is expected to reach €70 million this year.
With nearly 400 employees (53 % of whom work at headquarters), Elcimaï is now a major player in the economic vitality of Seine-et-Marne.

Factory 4.0 at the heart of ELCIMAÏ’s expertise
Through the various subsidiaries that make up its real estate division, as well as those dedicated to digital solutions, the Group’s 300 engineers design state-of-the-art sites for cutting-edge industries across all sectors : aerospace, food processing, healthcare/cosmetics…
As part of its “Eco-Responsible Industries” initiative, ELCIMAÏ develops and optimizes tailored solutions for its clients regarding the management, treatment, and recovery of byproducts and other industrial waste, as well as alternative energy production (solar, photovoltaic, biomass, geothermal, etc.).
The constant evolution of markets, products, and services, coupled with a need for increasingly rapid return on investment, is driving a rethink of factories impacted by the environmental and digital transition. Innovation and the development of new expertise call for the design of state-of-the-art production units, while manufacturers expect productivity increases of at least 30 % to justify the reorganization of existing sites or the deployment of new factories.
Elcimaï is betting that the factory of the future, as he envisions it, will contribute to the revitalization of French industry :
- Flexible and therefore modular,
- eco-built and therefore sustainable,
- Digital and therefore connected, while still leaving room for people.
A challenge he also intends to tackle through his Elcimaï Lab, a working group whose research focuses in particular on Indulogistics®, sustainable industrial infrastructure, and the modular factory.
Anaerobic digestion, a key issue for Seine-et-Marne
Elcimaï is also a partner to numerous local governments, including the Seine-et-Marne Departmental Council, which has commissioned it to conduct a study for a development plan for anaerobic digestion in the department.
Numerous projects—primarily agricultural—have been identified in the region, which is one of the areas with the highest concentration of injection-based facilities. Coordination is essential for Seine-et-Marne to become a pioneer in the growth of anaerobic digestion.
To reach stakeholders beyond the agricultural sector and initiate concrete actions, the support of the Department—whose network extends to waste and sanitation managers as well as local authorities—is essential.
The Departmental Council, in close collaboration with the Chamber of Agriculture, has thus sought to create momentum with stakeholders and raise the profile of the development of these sectors to optimize operations at all levels : resource extraction, transportation, facilities, injection networks, and other potential uses, etc.
The mission entrusted to GIRUS GE, a subsidiary of the Elcimaï Group specializing in the circular economy and energy transition, consists of supporting the Department and its partners in developing a comprehensive regional approach to the expansion of anaerobic digestion, in line with the objectives of the Regional Biomass Plan (SRB) currently being developed by the Region and state agencies.
