Waste Management : GIRUS GE Supports Urban Areas Undergoing Transformation
The impact of the NOTRe law, budget constraints, new regulatory requirements regarding the collection of food waste, and the expansion of recycling guidelines to all plastic packaging… While there is no shortage of reasons driving French metropolitan areas to harmonize and optimize their household waste collection services, they all share a threefold objective : controlling costs, providing users with a high-quality service, and meeting environmental performance standards.

For over 30 years, GIRUS GE, a subsidiary of the ELCIMAÏ Group, has been a preferred partner of local governments in modernizing, optimizing, and transforming their public waste management services.
GIRUS GE supports metropolitan areas in particular as they transform their organizational structures and collection systems. For example, the European Metropolis of Lille (MEL) is working with GIRUS GE to develop its strategy for the prevention, pre-collection, collection, and treatment of household and similar waste, as well as for the financing of public services. This new plan will optimize service quality and meet new regulations by setting ambitious and innovative goals.
GIRUS GE is also at the forefront of developing bio-waste collection in urban areas, for example through its work with SYCTOM, which provides public services for the treatment and recovery of household waste for 85 municipalities in the Île-de-France region. This initiative includes piloting bio-waste collection programs in member municipalities.
Finally, regarding prevention, GIRUS GE recently assisted Rennes Métropole in defining its metropolitan reuse plan, a plan developed in collaboration with all local stakeholders.
