Anaerobic Digestion : Elcimaï Environnement Supports Biogaz d'Arcis
Since 2016, the engineering firm Elcimaï Environnement has been working with SAS Biogaz d’Arcis on the construction of a facility for the anaerobic digestion of agricultural waste and byproducts from the food industry, as well as biogas recovery, near Arcis-sur-Aube (10).
As the French leader in organic waste management in general (regional plans, collection, treatment) and in anaerobic digestion and biogas in particular, Elcimaï Environnement has just completed the project for the 51,000 m² site, and the facility is already producing biogas, which is being injected into the grid.

The storage silo for incoming material has a capacity of 22,600 m³, and the storage lagoon for liquid digestate has a capacity of 20,000 m³.

With 45,000 tons of incoming waste per year, 450 Nm³/h of biomethane will be injected into the gas transmission network. This is achieved through continuous thermophilic dry-process anaerobic digestion and biogas purification technology using PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption, or pressure-swing adsorption, for CH4/CO2 separation).
Now certified Qualimétha®, Elcimaï Environnement served as the general contractor for the biogas purification and road and utilities packages and as the project management assistant for the anaerobic digestion and building packages.
